No, unfortunately neither the Alcazaba of Malaga nor the Gibralfaro Castle are adapted to facilitate access for people with reduced mobility.

No, it is strictly forbidden to bring animals inside the castle or the citadel. Only guide dogs are allowed inside the castle.

It can be accessed, but our recommendation is not to do so. The pavement is uneven, narrow and uneven, making it impracticable to walk comfortably. We will advise you where to leave the trolley before starting the visit so that you can make the most of the experience.

In the event of heavy rainfall due to the fact that both monuments are open air, the visitor will be notified in advance to arrange a new date for the tour.

No, we make sure that everyone, regardless of age or physical condition, can enjoy the visit, making small strategic stops along the way and adapting the pace to the needs of the group. We are not in a hurry, we have come to enjoy the visit together!

If you arrive late, we offer you the option to join the next available tour. This is the most recommended option so that you don’t miss any of the tour. If this is not possible, we will try to coordinate with the guide so that you can join at the point where the group is at that time.

The main difference between Gibralfaro Castle and the Alcazaba lies in their periods of construction and their specific functions within the fortified complex. The Alcazaba was built around 755, during the reign of Abd-al-Rahman I, and served as a palace-fortress to protect the city and house the nobility. Gibralfaro Castle, on the other hand, was erected between 1344 and 1354 under the reign of Yusuf I, with a higher defensive function, reinforcing the protection of the Alcazaba and providing a strategic watchtower. Both were connected by the walled corridor known as “la coracha,” which completes the fortified complex and allowed safe passage between the two structures.

As both monuments are open-air spaces, it is important to take some precautions to enjoy the visit comfortably and safely. On very hot days, we recommend wearing a hat or cap, sunscreen and enough water to stay well hydrated.

The entire route involves approximately 2,500 steps, so it is advisable to wear light clothing and comfortable shoes to make it easier to move around. Please note that, in the case of the Alcazaba, around 70% of the route is on a slope, so a good choice of footwear is essential to avoid discomfort and fatigue.

In addition, the weather can vary, so in cooler seasons it is also suggested to bring a light jacket.

To visit the Alcazaba, the most convenient option is to park in a public car park. We recommend, due to its proximity, the Alcazaba car park , although you can also opt for the the Plaza de la Marina , Bullring or Muelle 1 .
